A new paper lead by the University of Alcalá Antarctic permafrost team with the collaboration of Zephyrus P&M is out. The paper presents a synthesis of the techniques and fisrt results from the project PERMASNOW for the period 2014-2018, addressing the impacts of snow dynamics on the ground thermal regime. At the Crater Lake CALM site, the PERMASNOW team has installed a snow pack analyzer station providing 32 environmental and snow parameters, which allows for accurate characterization of the snow pack. The data is being used both for interpreting ground temperature regimes, for improving modelling and for ground truthing satellite imagery.
